Special Needs Library was started by Kellie Turner as ministry for parents of special needs kids. She informs people about special needs services locally and helps introduce parents to curriculums she has used while teaching her kid with autism.

When I talked with Kellie, she emphasised that this was specifically a library for special needs. I knew that the symbol for autism was a puzzle piece and decided to use that and the idea of a book as inspiration. I made several thumbnails to get my ideas on paper.

Kellie was very excited to chose this logo for her Library. I was able to incorporate the puzzle piece as a page of a book, pulling together both of the key elements I wanted to present. The colors are primary to represent an educational, gender neutral, and welcoming feel.
