Kickstart Cafe was born from a class project. I had to pick a piece of paper from a hat and the name on it was the company I would have to create branding for. since theses were made up companies I had liberty to choose what kind of brand I wanted.
Kickstart cafe is primarily a high end, luxury shoe company that gives customers a chance to watch the craft at work while enjoying coffee and sweets from the cafe. A window connected to the cafe allows Customers to see crafters at work on other orders or possibly even their own custom shoes.
I knew I wanted a Logo that showed professionalism and luxury. I also desired a symbol that could easily be recognized as both a coffee shop and a shoe company.
I finally settled on the shoe print idea, however, that proved very difficult. At first, I found that I simply added too much detail and it would make logo messy and busy.
Though it was one of my first sketches, thumbnail number 5, once changed and simplified became the perfect candidate for my logo.
The logo was complete and My class continued with assignments that would build the brand. I created several pieces to go along with the logo and bring this imaginary company to life.
This was the final Assignment for Ad Design 1. I was tasked with making a direct mailer. I chose to make an invite for membership as a new location was opening up. The recipients would be those in the immediate area surrounding the location.
The class was finished but if felt like something was missing. My senior show was coming up and I wanted to add to this project. I drew inspiration from Art Deco and applied decorative framing to my work. If you look closely you can see that I made little hidden loafers as a tiny surprise. Below is the finished branding that I printed for my art show.
